Beer Festival and more!

Our July visit began with old friends from the Midlands joining us for a couple of days.  It was great to spend time with them and have the opportunity get to know them properly again.
This visit at the end of July coincided with the Parkham Beer Festival.  Where else would you find a beer festival next door!
We sampled a number of the real ales and enjoyed listening to the the Littleham Howlers and also Gypfunk, an amazing North Devon based group performing curiously engaging French songs with shades of chanson, upbeat swing-shuffle and balkanesque cool (to quote their website).


We were joined for the last week by our daughter, fiance and dog.  With our own dog struggling with short local walks it was good to take Dot onto the beach at Northam and see her enjoying running on the sand.  We enjoyed the walk from Greencliff to Westward Ho! (and back)  and particularly our coffees at the Pier House.



Our visit would not have been complete withour a sunny morning spent at RHS Rosemoor.  The roses were spectacular and whilst not a great fan of roses no-one could fail to be impressed by the flowers on display -  apparently the best for several years.
